The course
Twenty-four short lessons. Every program is a recipe: Shape, Memory, Movement.
MODULE 0 — THE THREE THINGS
Every app is three things at once (what it holds, what it remembers, how things move through it) and two verbs, read and write. You start with no code at all.
MODULE 1 — MATTER: THE SHAPE OF INFORMATION
Text, numbers, lists, objects, sets, nesting and functions: the shapes data takes, and how to pick the right one for a real problem.
- S03Text & numbers3 min
- S04True, false and nothing3 min
- S05Lists (arrays)3 min
- S06Key-value (objects and records)3 min
- S07Sets and choosing the right shape3 min
- S08Nesting3 min
- S09Functions3 min
- S10Access and manipulation3 min
- S11Build a complex structure3 min
- S12Describe real-life problems as data structures3 min
MODULE 2 — PERSISTENCE: THE MEMORY OF THE SYSTEM
Where data is kept: in a variable, in a cache, in a file or a database, and how to trade speed, durability and space against each other.
MODULE 3 — MOTION: THE MOVEMENT OF INFORMATION
How data travels: input and output, control flow, bandwidth and latency, many things at once, and one saved note's whole journey to your screen.
MODULE 4 — THE DANCE: THE THREE TOGETHER
Shape, Memory and Movement working at once: a tiny note-taker end to end, one tap traced through all three, and an app you use every day read through the lenses.
